The Lullaby Winery 2007 Rosé is a classic see-thru light red rosé from Walla Walla, in an unusual sized bottle, 500 ml. Although most rosé wines benefit from being served well chilled, that is not true for this Grenache based rosé. Initially the wine was too cold, obliterating the nose of this rosé. After the wine warmed up to room temperature, the aromas appeared – predominantly...

Every time we open up a bottle of wine from Northstar Winery, it takes me back to each joyous visit we’ve made to the winery’s tasting room. If you haven’t yet met the nice people of Northstar, do so the next time you are in Walla Walla. While there, sign up for the wine club to gain access to previously released vintages such as this one. You can read more about our visit during the Walla Walla Fall...

Rulo Birch Creek Chardonnay is a light lemon colored wine. This Chardonnay releases aromas of yeast and banana bread on the nose. Flavors of butter, pineapple, pear, and oak are present. The finish lingers with a touch of caramel corn. This is a great example of Washington Chardonnay with enough oak to add complexity, but not so much that it clashes with food. After spending the night in Kennewick to attend the Tri-Cities Wine Fest, we continued on to Walla Walla’s Fall Release Weekend. Needless to say, we didn’t make it to all 48 wineries showcasing their new releases, but we did manage to visit five Walla Walla wineries. Those we did visit, however, provided us with some great tastings of Washington wine.
We started off at Rulo Winery since...

When I think of Walla Walla, I think of wine and the upcoming North American Wine Bloggers Conference. I have to admit that beer doesn’t usually enter that equation for me. I am glad that Geoff Kaiser, of Seattle Beer News, is a smart guy and was sure to include breweries in his trip into Walla Walla wine country.
I should know better, I know that most wine makers enjoy beer. You look in any fridge...

November 6-8, 2009 the Wineries of Walla Walla are hosting a weekend long Fall Release party. Over 48 Walla Walla Wineries will be showcasing their fall wine releases. Many wineries will have special hours and activities scheduled during the weekend. So much wine and so much to taste, that I can’t list it all here. Fortunately for you, Walla Walla Wine News can list it all. They have prepared...

We enjoyed a bottle of the Three Rivers Winery 2005 Columbia Valley Syrah over a tasty dinner with friends. This Washington Syrah, crafted in Walla Walla from Columbia Valley vines, is a deep blackberry color with a subtle blackberry nose. Black plum, herb, tobacco and a hint of strawberry flirt with the nose as you swirl the wine in your glass. The bold fruit commonly associated with newer...
