PIKETOBERFEST – Beer, pretzels and much more

The annual event known as Piketoberfest is a sure sign that fall has arrived!  The sold out event held at Pike Brewery down in Pike Place Market welcomed 250 people to celebrate the season with samples of beer, wine, mead, distilled spirits and a variety of food, including pretzels in many forms. The vendors were an intriguing mix spread out through two levels of brewery. In the Museum room I immediately... read more

With that distinct Washington style, we have some of the most highly regarded Oktoberfest celebrations in the country. Check back often for Oktoberfest... read more

Washington Celebrates Oktoberfest 2014

Don’t confuse Oktoberfest with the month of October. Oktoberfest “officially” runs runs from noon on Saturday, September 20th through Sunday October 5th 2014. In Washington, you can expect Oktoberfest/Octoberfest activities from now until the end of October. Washington does LOVE its beer!  I try to be thorough as I can but I always miss something. If you know of one that I am missing,... read more

2011 Fremont Oktoberfest Tips

With our unseasonably warm weather and the great planning of Bold Hat Productions Fremont Oktoberfest has been my favorite event of the season.  The beer tasting garden tents were increased and spread out more so the few lines that formed moved quickly. Multiple tasting lounges, sponsored by various breweries, provided a retreat for revelers. Friday evening at Fremont Oktoberfest was fun, festive and... read more

During the Silver City Brewery Anniversary Party yesterday, the Pierce County Firefighters Pipes & Drums Band honored the fallen firefighters of 9/11.   The band played a heart wrenching rendition of Amazing Grace, as party goers raised their pints in the air to pay their respects to those that sacrificed their lives in the attempt to save others. The festivities commence with the Brewmaster VIP... read more

It is never too early to start planning for Oktoberfest! Washington state plays host to a number of Oktoberfest celebrations throughout mid September and into October.  In Germany, Oktoberfest runs from September 17th – October 3rd but expect a longer celebration in Washington this year, in part due to the Great American Beer Festival (GABF)  in Colorado runs from September 29-October1. Fremont Oktoberfest 2010 – Four ‘other’ beers

The responsibility weighed heavy as I browsed the online list of beers expected at the Oktoberfest in the Fremont neighborhood of Seattle this weekend. Bean, our beer palate guru, is in Spokane covering the Oktoberfest on the east side of Washington leaving me, beer palate noviciate, to taste and discuss beers alone. Having discussions with myself is usually not a problem. However, if it happens while I... read more
