Naked City, WABL, Seahawks FTW

Naked City Brewery  hosted the October WABL event, Seahawks Monday night football in their screening room October 28, 2013. it was a celebration of great Washington beer and well, I will let you describe the football game in your own words. Naked City’s  Oude Houten Houten Kop is a brooding strong Golden Belgian ale. In appearance, this Golden Belgian Ale is anything but golden. It is as opaque and... read more

1,2,3,4 SBW Kick off parties!

The 4th annual Seattle Beer Week started off with a bang and FOUR kick off parties! Pike Chocofest 2012 Review

Pike Brewing’s Annual Chocofest continues to charm me. How can it not – it’s all about CHOCOLATE! Throw in the hospitality of Rose Anne and Charles Finkel, top that off with the addition of specialty brews incorporating chocolate, proceeds from the event benefiting Seattle job training program FareStart and you’ve got an event that remains tops in my book. If you missed out this year, not to worry.... read more

Pairing Chocolate with Beer

Last April we asked the question, “Is pairing wine with chocolate like having sex on the beach?” Well, what about pairing beer and chocolate? The Finkels of Pike Brewing celebrate the pairing of beer and chocolate each year right before Valentine’s Day with their Chocofest that they like to bill as “foreplay before the big day.” So maybe this is the pairing we should be romanticizing. The... read more

Session Beer Fest

Believe it or not, summer is coming to Seattle. And with that summer sunshine comes the desire for a beer: something light, cold, crisp and easy drinking. As the temperature rises, I look for a beer with a lower alcohol content. I want a thirst quencher not a dehydrator after working in the yard. Sometimes these beers are called “lawn mower beers” because they hit the spot when you want to... read more

Seattle Beer Week 2011 Final Weekend

Are you ready for the final weekend of Seattle Beer Week 2011? It has been a long, fun and sometimes overwhelming week of beer in Seattle. But it isn’t over yet baby, this weekend is packed with beer activities to cheer up your Memorial Day weekend, regardless of the... read more

Belgianfest 2011- Sold Out Success

W ashington Beer Commission’s 2nd annual Belgianfest was a showcase for Washington brewers’ skill and creativity in crafting Belgian style brews. Although last year’s inaugural Belgianfest was relatively small, this year’s boasted a bigger location, more brewers and more beer! Even with a bigger location at Magnuson Park, both tasting sessions of Belgianfest 2011 sold out. It was... read more
