Reflection of Cask Beer Fest Crowd

Cask beer is often considered natural or true beer. This because the beer is conditioned naturally. No carbon dioxide (CO2) is artificially added to the cask to give the beer carbonation. Every Washington beer poured at this Cask Beer Fest are poured by gravity or via a beer engine.  In addition, all cask beers served at cellar temp. You might think that beers should always be served ice cold, but that isn’t true.  Served too cold, and a beer’s more delicate flavors hide. Cask beers, served at cellar temp, may expose you to beer flavors that you have never tasted before! Unfiltered and often fresh, experience some of the best craft beers Washington Brewers offer.

Over 40 Washington Breweries are bringing their handcrafted cask-conditioned beer. Although many people confuse cask conditioned beers with barrel aged beers, they are very different. It can be even more confusing when you see a barrel aged beer on the Cask Beer Festival Beer :

  • Cask conditioned beers are carbonated naturally in the cask and poured by gravity.
  • Barrel aged aged beers are made traditionally, then aged in barrels. CO2 is added and usually served under pressure.
  • Barrel aged beers can be the base for a new cask conditioned beer without additional CO2 and poured by gravity.

The 2017 Cask Beer Festival beer list isn’t available yet but I will post it when it is.

The Washington Cask Beer Fest has two sessions: afternoon and evening. The afternoon usually sells out first but both sell out fast so don’t procrastinate in buying your tickets. Washington Caskfest tickets are $40 in advance/$45 at the door if still available. Admission to Cask Beer Festival includes a commemorative tasting glass and 15 4oz tastes of beer. Designated driver admission is $5 and available at the door only.
