Silver City Brewing wants you to know that there is a LOT of great beer on the west side of Puget Sound. We want you to know they are right!

Silver City Brewing and Restaurant are very proud of their Kitsap Penninsula roots and their dedication to serving their community.  Although their commitment is to Kitsap Penninsula, Silver City Brewing is garnering national attention. Just last month, Silver City Brewing won Luxist’s Reader’s Choice Award for the best brew pub. Silver City Brewing was been winning awards at the North American Beer Awards and Great American Beer Festival for years. All the attention led to a packed brewpub, with waits to get in. To keep their local customers happy and well fed, Silver City Brewery has launched an aggressive and exciting plan to increase beer production and the brew pub.

Silver City New Brewery

Operating under a single roof since 1996, they have opted to separate the restaurant/brew pub and the brewery so they can expand both branches of the business. In late April, Silver City Brewery launched their new brewery facility in Bremerton. Moving the brewery out of the brewery pub, leaves more room for drinkers and diners. The restaurant will close for about a month later this summer for complete renovation. The new separate brewery facility will allow them to increase production of their quality brews.

Kurt Larson, Don Spencer, Scott Houmes

Recently we toured the new Bremerton brewing facility and met up with Brewmaster Don Spencer, co-owner Scott Houmes and Sales guy Kurt Larson.

Don Spencer (AKA Big Daddy) has been brewing for over 30 years. Don is committed to exposing his customers to new and exciting beers that would intrigue them as well as providing the much beloved standards.  Silver City’s pilot program makes beers for sophisticated drinkers seeking a challenge. We really felt they were doing this just by the amazing brews we have experienced at various brew events in the last few years. WTF (Wild, Tart, Fat) sour scotch ale that garnered rave reviews at the Washington Beer Commission Cask fest this spring. The Silver City Brewery Eau Sombre is another specialty brew that we love and order whenever it is available. (Hint, hint!) The new brewing facility will enable Don and his assistant brewers to expand their pilot brewing projects and we are excited to see what they come up with.

Silver City Brewery has six standard beers and usually two seasonal beers on tap.

  • Fat Scotch Ale
  • Panther Lake Porter
  • Ridgetop Red
  • Indianola Pale Ale
  • Clear Creek Pale Ale
  • Bavarian Style Hefeweizen

Kurt pouring fresh Ridgetop Red

The day that we were touring the brewery, Don Spencer and Gary were brewing Ridgetop Red. Ridgetop Red is their most popular beer and it won Gold at the Great American Beer Festival 2009 and Silver at the North American Beer Awards 2009.  This amber is malty sweet but well balanced with Liberty hops, giving a lush mouth feel tempered with refreshing finish. This is a very drinkable session style amber. This red amber is an exceptional beer freshly poured  in the brewery. It is also available on tap and in the bottle.

Silver City Brewery standard beers are available at most grocery stores on the Kitsap Peninsula. Off the peninsula, Silver City bottled beers are available in the better beer stores around the Puget Sound. Marine View Beverage is their distributor and makes it easier for you to get your hands on some Silver City Brew.

Silver City Brewery is proud to be part of the Left Sound Craft Brewing Community.  Their goal is to be locally produced and world renown.
