Celebrate #IPADay with some of Washington’s best beers! August 2, 2012 is the second annual #IPADay. Although #IPADay is a universal celebration of the India Pale Ale, I suggest you raise a pint with some Washington IPA.
To help commemorate the #IPADay, I have created a quick list of IPAs that I thought were particularly tasty these last couple of months. I can’t guarantee that all of these Washington IPAs are available today, but I can’t guarantee that you will want to check out these India Pale Ales whenever they are available.
- Black Raven Wisdom Seeker –
This double IPA is occasionally available on tap or even in the bottle, on rare occasions at the brewery and/or Malt & Vine. But if you can find Wisdom Seeker you will want to drink it. This one is consistently my personal favorite Washington IPA
- Fremont Brewing Big Brother Imperial IPA –
One of the big debates at the last couple of Washington Brewers Festivals has been which has the better double IPA: Blackraven or Fremont? This year, many of my friends thought the Big Brother topped Wisdom Seeker. What do you think?
- Naked City Sudden Impact Coffee IPA –
Want some complexity with your bitter? This Coffee IPA manages to balance the bitterness of the hops with the tannic roast of the coffee and still not tire out your palate. First tried this during Seattle Beer Week when a table of brewers all declared “ You have GOT to try this beer“. Coffee notes but this is a Northwest IPA through and through. Brewed withDillanos Coffee Roasters and Janelle Pritchard.
- Elliott Bay Lake City IPA –
Looking for a session IPA for easy summer time drinking?Look no further than the new house beer at the new Lake City Elliott Bay Brew Pub. Crafted by Bill Jenkins the Lake City IPA will please your palate but not muddle your brain.
