Feliz Compleaños (Happy Second Anniversary) to the Dray!
Pike Brewing Company helped the Dray celebrate their second anniversary in fine Spanish style with a big parking lot party in the back. The parking lot was gussied up with straw to cover the hot black asphalt, kegs provided the seating and tables and the sun added to the festive atmosphere.
Pike Place Brewery, was the chef of the day preparing huge pans of paella and serving up tacos on fresh, homemade tortillas. The paella was all gone by the time we go there at 4pm but the tacos were fresh and fantastic. Andy made carne asada, al pastor and vegetarian tacos. Topped with radishes, lime and salsa, the tacos were delicious paired with Pike Brewery beers.
Pike Brewery offered two seasonals on tap: Dry Wit and Cerveza Rosanna as well as a number of favorite Pike standards. The Dry Wit is a belgium style wheat ale. It is crisp and refreshing with coriander and orange flavors that paired great with the tacos al pastor.
The Cervesa Rosanna is Rose Ann’s namesake chili ale that went well with the carne asada tacos. This version of the Cervesa Rosanna had subtle chili flavors that didn’t overwhelm the beer. Great choice for people that want just a hint of heat in their beer. We have a high chili tolerance, so the three of us wished the chili factor had been amped up a bit.
Outside in the parking lot party, we could enjoy the sun and frisbee. It was easy to move around and find a place in the sun or in the shade under one of the canopies. The Dray is known for football AKA soccer and the Sounders game drew standing room only crowd of enthusiastic fans.
