Lisa Morrison, aka the Beer Goddess, reigned supreme at Wine World last night with her humor and vast beer expertise. Not everyone walking into a wine store expects to be greeted with a complementary beer tasting. If someone came to the tasting bar with that “deer in the headlights” look. Lisa was quick to greet them and answer their questions about beer styles and breweries. Three beers from Fremont Brewing and three beers from Ninkasi were available for complementary tasting at the Wine World tasting bar and Lisa helped beer neophytes navigate the world of IPAs, Pale Ales and Summer seasonals. It was fun to watch Lisa, an Oregon beer blogger, gravitate customers to the Ninkasi while the shameless Washington beer promoter that I am, tended to favor the Fremont brews. The Fremont Solstice and the Ninkasi Believer Double Red Ale were the crowd favorites.
Lisa Morrison was in town to support American Craft Beer Week, which overlaps with Seattle Beer Week. Lisa was at Wine World to sign copies of her new book Craft Beers of the Pacific Northwest: A Beer Lover’s Guide to Oregon, Washington, and British Columbia
Lisa saw the need for a comprehensive guide to the Pacific Northwest Craft Beers of which she is so fond. There really isn’t a true guide to the beers, brewmasters and brew pubs of this region. Her book not only boasts 18 different pub crawls in the Northwest but tells the story behind the craft beer movement and icon craft brewers like the Finkels and Kemplers. Look for Vivian’s book review of Craft Beers of the Pacific Northwest in the coming weeks.
Miss Lisa at last night’s book signing? The Beer Goddess will be signing books at Pike Brewing tonight, May 17 , 5-8pm.
