Which Washington wines will pair with Taste of Thai?

This Wednesday*, September 29th, Feast and Tweet kicks off with a Taste of Thai. Wine may not be the first thing you think of when you think of Thai food but you might be surprised how some great some Washington wines pair with spicy Thai. Feast and Tweet is an opportunity to try some of those pairings.

Feast and TweetFeast and Tweet is a celebration of food, wine and friendship. It is an excuse to eat great food on a week night!  Foodies and wine lovers gather, virtually and in person, around the dinner table to talk, taste and tweet about food and wine pairing. On Wednesday at 6:30pm, people will sit down with some Thai food and some wine to enjoy a meal and conversation. You can stop at your favorite Thai restaurant on your way home from work for take out or you can try out a Thai recipe from Naomi Kakiuchi of Nuculinary. I will be making Ed’s favorite green papaya salad recipe, even if he is out of town :-P.

Washington Wine Suggestions for Thai Food Pairing

People will be feasting and tweeting about Thai food and wines from all over the world but I will be paying special attention to the Washington wines. A little bit of residual sugar, good acidity and low alcohol are important factors in pairing with spicy, slightly salty Thai food. I don’t normally like perceptible sweetness in my wine, EXCEPT when I am pairing it with food, especially spicy food. Here are some of the Washington wines that we have enjoyed with Thai food and some that we will be trying at the up and coming Taste of Thai feast and tweet. The best part? All of these wines are under $20 and most are under $15!

Join us on Twitter, feast and tweet with us at the Taste of Thai  on September 29, 6:30pm. We will be using the hashtag #feasts

*Early editions incorrectly stated Taste of Thai was on Thursday September 29. People much smarter than me pointed out that it is Wednesday not Thursday.
