Last Saturday, 34 Washington Beer Lovers took off on a grand adventure to explore some of the excellent breweries of Southwest Washington. In one long but fun-filled day, we toured eight Southwest Washington Breweries:
- Georgetown Brewing Company
- Harmon Brewery & Restaurant
- Powerhouse Brewery
- McMenamin’s Olympic Club
- Salmon Creek Brew Pub
- Hazel Dell Brewery
- Dick’s Brewing Company
- Elliot Bay Brewing Company
Lisa Miyashita and Matt Stromberg were our fearless leaders for this tour. Unfortunately, Beaux Bowman, the third organizer of this trip, was unable to attend at the last moment and missed out on some great beer.
Most started the day checking out the new digs for Georgetown Brewery where pints and growlers were available before 9am! (Unfortunately we missed out because we got lost and got there just in time to catch the bus but missed the beer 🙁 We will make special effort to review Georgetown Brewing Co, in the near future.)
The time on the bus provided us intervals to chat, cat nap and do very strange things to pez dispensers while we recharged for the next brewery. Don’t even ask about the Mardi Gras beads and batons! Matt ensured that we stayed entertained on the bus with a number of toys, gadgets, puzzles and of course, Funyums!
The bus was full of avid beer lovers with definite opinions about the wide variety of brews that we enjoyed throughout the day. We tasted beers ranging from Chili-ocolate Ale at Harmon’s to Pale Ale, brewed by McMenamin’s specifically for this bus tour to a number of barley wines to some awesome IPAs and just about everything in-between. The links below are our personal reviews of the beers and breweries that we enjoyed. Moderation and common sense prevented us from being able to taste all of the beers available to us that day. We invite readers to chime in to fill the gaps.
