This Thursday, the UW Huskies take on the WSU Cougars in the second annual Grape Cup. Seattle Uncorked‘s Grape Cup is the wine and beer world’s answer to the Apple Cup. Instead of grappling over the football; WSU and UW alumni will be competing with grapes and grain at 415 Westlake, from 6:00-9:00 pm on September 16.
415 Westlake is a new location for the Grape Cup but that isn’t all that is new to Grape Cup. This year, the Grape Cup competition includes brewmasters as well as winemakers. We love the new addition of beer to this friendly yet passionate revelry. We have UW and WSU alumni on this blog, so we take this competition seriously! Twenty four wine makers and brewers are competing for the bragging rights of winning the Grape Cup. Last year, WSU won the Grape Cup but lost the Apple Cup. Who will win this year?
Keeping with the fun football theme, Chef Tom Black and Mark Huston will be preparing delicious tailgate fare. Dressing in school colors is encouraged but not required. Cheer for your favorite team of beverage makers, enjoy some great beer and wine, eat some tasty eats AND support the Washington State Farmworker Housing Trust. The Farmworker Trust works to provide decent and affordable housing for Washington farmworkers. Some of those people are the workers that grow and harvest the grapes, grains and the hops that make those delicious beverages.
