Being a Washington beer blogger you won’t often hear me advocating blue ribbon and beer, but I am inviting you to Tie One On at Pike Brewing on Thursday, June 16th. Pink ribbons are universally accepted as a symbol in the fight against breast cancer but did you know blue ribbons symbolizing the fight against prostate cancer? You probably weren’t aware because men may talk about sexual conquests but don’t talk about health “down there”. We may not be talking about it but it is impacting us, one in six men will get prostate cancer. You probably know someone with this disease: your brother, father, husband, grandfather, uncle, best friend or maybe even yourself. My family has been stricken by this cancer, has yours? Prostate cancer is treatable if it is caught early and that is what Pints for Prostrates is all about.
Men drink beer and men talk about beer. Men and women gather to drink beer so Pints for Prostates captures that as an opportunity to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer screening and education. Pike Brewing is joining the cause just in time for Father’s Day. Starting at 11am, 20% of every pint sold at Pike Brewing will go to Pints for Prostates. Grab a pint during lunch and help the cause. Stop by after work with friends and family for happy hour or for dinner and every delicious pint of Pike Beer you purchase will help.
Tie One On
Between 6-9pm in the Museum room, raise a pint of Pike with representatives from Pints for Prostates, Cancer Care Alliance, Dendreon and US Too International. Talk about beer and learn about prostate cancer in a fun learning environment. Participate in a silent auction and enter a chance to win a Beer Lovers’ Dream Trip: Pints for Prostates European Beer Tour!
You probably don’t need to find an excuse to drink a pint of Pike, but in case you do… Buy a pint and help fight Prostate Cancer!
