Everything is coming up Rosés

Rose revivalSomeone may have forgotten to tell the weather man that it is Spring in Seattle, but Seattle Uncorked hasn’t forgotten that Spring means rosé wines! The 9th Annual Rosé Revival is on Wednesday, June 1st from 6-9pm at Ray’s Boathouse.

Rosé wines are emerging from a bad reputation in America but in France they are revered as a herald of spring. Rosé wines have surpassed white wines in terms of consumption in France where they are so popular. Part of the bad reputation came from an abundance of sweet and fruity rosé wines as we moved towards seeking drier and crisper white and rosé wines.

The Beauty in Variety

I like to compare rose wine to rose flowers. Like the rose flowers, rosé wines come in a variety of colors. Rosé wines may range from juicy cantaloupe orange to pale pink to raspberry red to almost a royal purple. Some roses have a very delicate and elegant perfume while other roses envelope you in their heady fragrance and rosé wines show the same range in their aromas and flavors. Got a sweet tooth? Sip a rosé that taste like fresh strawberries fresh from the farm or you can enjoy rosé wines that will remind you of watermelon Jolly Ranchers. Looking for something crisp, dry and elegant? Try a Provencal style rosé made in Washington!

Rosé Revival  and Cool Whites will feature Washington wines from 30 different wineries. Come try rosé wines made from Cabernet Franc, Grenache, Monastrell, Sangiovese, Syrah and Tempranillo.  In addition to the dazzling array of Washington rosés, come enjoy white wines like Chenin Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling Sauvignon Blanc, Semillion and Viognier,
