The Washington Brewers’ Festival is the BIGGEST brewfest in Washington state. This annual celebration of beer takes place on Fathers’ Day weekend at St Edwards Park in Kenmore. Saturday and Sunday are designed to be family friendly with kids play areas and lots of picnic areas spread around the festival. A large covered picnic area has been added this year to provide respite from the sun or to prevent the rain from diluting your brew, depending on Mother Nature’s whimsy. Friday night is for adults and tends to attract the beer geeks with special one off casks only available that evening.
In fact, you will notice that the average age at the festival decreases steadily over the weekend as beer loving dads with small children celebrate on Sunday. The kids play areas have been moved to the opposite side of the entrance this year so you can drink and play with the adults at one end of the festival away from the joyous noise of playing kids if you please. The food area serves as a bridge between the beer tents from the kid activity areas.
Come thirsty because there will be over 200 beers on tap over the course of the weekend! Over 35 Washington breweries will be pouring their beers PLUS a select number of breweries from around the country will have beers on tap. Not everyone in your family loves beer the way that you love beer? No problem! Cider, wine and root beer will also be available.
It is supposed to rain Saturday until mid afternoon but the rest of the weekend is looking great for a picnic in the park. Use one of the picnic areas set up in the festival or bring your own chairs and blanket. Some families and friends bring games to enjoy in between the beers or you can just kick back and enjoy the live music! Other activities include the infamous keg toss and putting booth.
Do something for Dad and stop by the Pints for Prostate booth. Learn more about prostate cancer screening over a beer! It may not always be easy to talk about but it is important.
